Reframing of Climate Risk

About

As climate risk rapidly shifts from a sustainability concern to a core business issue, boards are under growing pressure to integrate it into strategic and financial decision-making. In this session, we explore how Chief Sustainability Officers can lead the charge in repositioning climate risk as a material factor that sits firmly within the board’s fiduciary responsibilities, not as an isolated ESG topic, but as a critical element of long-term business resilience and performance.

We’re joined by Maana Rui and Jasper Crone, both Directors at CEN Group, who will unpack the evolving regulatory and financial landscape surrounding climate risk, what’s driving change, and how CSOs can equip boards with the right language, insights, and questions to respond effectively. The conversation will also consider how to embed climate thinking more deeply across supply chains and operations, including how to tackle embedded carbon in procurement and logistics.

The discussion will be chaired by Richard Nugee, CEO of the Scar Free Foundation and former Non-Executive Director for the Ministry of Defence, who will bring a board-level lens to the conversation and guide us through the strategic implications for business leadership.

The first half of the session will feature a short presentation and panel insights, followed by a dynamic, interactive discussion where attendees will be encouraged to share experiences, raise questions, and explore how climate risk can be more effectively championed at board level.

Attendees will leave with practical perspectives on how to elevate the conversation on climate risk internally, and how to move beyond compliance into long-term value creation.
