We are delighted to be able to invite you to our Affordable Housing Network members lunch with the Deputy Mayor of London, Tom Copley.
As we entered 2025, a key priority for the government was driving economic growth by addressing London’s housing needs. The plan to build 1.5 million new homes aims to meet the city’s growing population and close the widening gap between housing supply and demand. Tom has been on the London Assembly as a Labour London-wide List member since May 2012, and was re-elected in 2016. He is the Housing Spokesperson for the Labour Group on the Assembly. He is a member of the Housing Committee, Transport Committee, Planning Committee, Audit Panel, Confirmation Hearings Committee and Oversight Committee.
On the Assembly he has raised concerns about the lack of housing supply across all tenures, rents and conditions in the private rented sector and the increase in rough sleeping.
This meeting will be a great opportunity to discuss how best to meet growing housing demands while ensuring high standards of construction and sustainability, the urgent need for affordable housing solutions, the crucial roles of public and private sector collaboration and finally how strategic investments and cross-sector collaborations can drive long-term success in housing.
