The role of the CIO has never been more critical or more complex. As technology increasingly shapes business strategy, CIOs must navigate their position within the Executive Committee and the Board, ensuring that technology is represented at the highest levels. This session will provide clarity on what is expected of CIOs today and how they can operate most effectively in an environment that demands both strategic insight and technical leadership.
Beyond their immediate responsibilities, CIOs must also consider the longer-term trajectory of their careers. The discussion will therefore also explore opportunities beyond the CIO role, including executive and non-executive pathways, and how leaders in technology can transition into broader business leadership positions. Additionally, our panel will examine succession planning and the role CIOs play in building diverse and socially mobile leadership teams within their function.
As business needs evolve, so too must the skill sets within IT. This session will touch on the widening gap between current capabilities and future business demands, as well as the role CIOs can play in bridging this divide. With increasing Board scrutiny on technology’s strategic importance, we will also consider how CIOs can strengthen their voice at the top level, ensuring that digital and technology considerations are fully embedded in business decision-making.
