Workplace disputes cost British businesses nearly £30bn a year and impact over one-third of the workforce. This highly informative and insightful session will be led by Caroline Sheridan, Executive Coach, CEO and founder of Sheridan Worldwide, leading a global faculty of expert coaches specialising in leadership, executive coaching, inclusion and conflict resolution.
Caroline sits on the Civil Mediation Council (CMC) Mediation Standards Board and previously served as CMC Board Director and Chair of its Workplace and Employment Group, and also collaborates closely with Acas and the CIPD to promote early resolution in the workplace.
For workplace disputes and grievances, Caroline will suggest that early, less formal procedures work – they are effective in resolving disputes, cost less in time and resources, and can more quickly rebuild workplace trust and engagement. The phrase ‘nip problems in the bud’ sounds simple, but the volume of conflicts which escalate into full-blown disputes show line managers lack the skills they need.
During the session, Caroline will explore three recent, very common types of grievances and then advise on how to resolve them, with real-life case studies to share. Grievances in the workplace often stem from a variety of organizational, managerial, and interpersonal factors. Below are common themes around workplace grievances:
• Discrimination
• Poor management
• Bullying
Have you ever faced workplace disputes that escalated unexpectedly? Join us to learn how these situations can be managed more effectively. Caroline's insights and real-life examples will provide valuable strategies that can improve our work environment.
