When faced with a strategy as significant and all-encompassing as ESG, all functions in a business must play a part, including legal. It can, however, be difficult to determine just what aspects of ESG legal should be responsible for as well as how the function can best assist the wider business in meeting its own targets. Should legal take more of a front-seat or provide a supporting role, particularly if there is a CSO in place?
Attendees will hear from General Counsels who are establishing their role and have adopted some different approaches. Sarita Rai will be chairing this session, and she will be joined by our speakers: Mark Maurice-Jones, General Counsel and Compliance Officer, UK and Ireland at Nestle, Tess Bridgeman, Group General Counsel and Company Secretary at Cory Group, and Jessica Long, Head of ESG at Ipsos Strategy3.
Attendees can expect an informed discussion with lots of learning points for those CLOs looking to formalise their functions contribution to the ESG agenda.
