In 2024, sustainable building practices will take centre stage, reflecting COP28's emphasis on decarbonisation and refurbishment over new development and exemplified by the Buildings Breakthrough’s global push for near-zero emission and resilient buildings by 2030.
Organisations that have recognised the imperative to operate sustainably and take on the mantel of environmental stewardship will necessarily have to scope the impact that their physical footprint i.e. real estate has as a significant contributor to environmental issues, whether that be running buildings, energy consumption or development.
New standards and a continuing evolution of regulatory expectations including TNFD and Scope 3 are adding a further layer of complexity in terms of target setting, establishing frameworks and reporting in this area.
With that in mind, this meeting has been organised so that members can ensure that their approach to sustainability in real estate aligns with their wider sustainability goals and that sustainability is central to their real estate agenda rather than a box-ticking exercise.
