The Capita incident last year highlighted the critical responsibility trustees have as gatekeepers of member information, and even those schemes with cyber response plans in place found them wanting when it came to the actual event. As cyber incidents involving pension schemes increase (44 were reported to the ICO between September 2022 and September 2023 last year) so does the likelihood of trustees having to respond to a successful attack. At this meeting, we will help members ensure that they are as prepared as they can be to deal with a cyber-attack.
To help members to understand what a cyber attack is like, Laurie Brown, the Cyber Security Director at Flagship Housing Group, will share his first-hand experience, the decisions to be made, and what he learned, as well as the costs in terms of disruption and finances and reputation. We will also hear from Chris Hogg, CEO of the National Grid Pension Fund, who will share the thinking that informed the scheme's recently developed cyber response plan.
As cyber emerges as a key operational risk to be managed, we hope this meeting will help you to minimise the consequences, if it does happen to you.
