Motivating your employees to be productive in challenging times

About

Productivity in the UK continues to decline compared to the rest of the world (including France, Germany, and the US) and according to the CIPD, without productivity growth, the UK will not benefit from increases in living standards and pay. To continue to be able to invest in employees and customers, it is critical for organisations that their leadership ensures productivity is as high as it can be especially when resources are under significant pressure and they also have to ensure that productivity is sustainable.

With this in mind, organisations are having to revisit their people strategies and consider a more wholesale review of their approach to make sure they are delivering the right outcome for their people and for the organisation as a whole.

A key question leadership teams are asking at this time, is whether their people are motivated to be as productive as they can be, particularly when they are operating in a challenging operating environment, having to prioritise tasks that include difficult decisions and manage the unrelenting demands of stakeholders.

This first meeting of a series on productivity and capacity will focus on what employees need from their leadership, focusing on the psychological aspects of motivation, and what leadership should be focusing on to support their people.
