As highlighted by recent events, 'group think' can lead to missed opportunity, and sometimes catastrophic failure. Organisations are not immune to this and a lack of diversity of thought at the top and a 'company way' of doing things often stifles innovation. Some organisations have found that they can encourage the innovative culture they are looking for by:

  • Focusing on creating an environment that supports a diversity of thought;
  • Finding ways to apply the ideas of those who think differently;
