As the debate around social inequality and diversity has matured in recent years, many private sector organisations have made great progress to improve their talent pipeline to ensure they are a truly equal opportunities employer. However, as many firms batten down the hatches, much of this good work may be lost.
In 2019 the Army and MoD were listed as two of the top 100 employers in the country for encouraging social mobility. As one of the earliest equal opportunity employers, the Army have set the bar higher than ever and taken substantial action to improve social mobility in their workplace to ensure they are open to and accessible to progressing talent from all backgrounds. These include offering a substantial number of training opportunities, educational programmes and mentoring from senior soldiers amongst many others.
In this session, we look at what the corporate world can learn from the Army and MoD about creating a truly inclusive, progressive and diverse workforce.
